Colic is no doubt one of the most tiring and stressful things to go through with a newborn, especially for first time parents. Both of my previous babies had Colic and to add to that, my second had pretty bad Acid Reflux. Is your baby having Colic issues? (Then my goodness, I feel for you).

It was tough. I was praying to find relief for my baby and get some extra sleep. When my baby cried and cried I held him until my arms and wrists gave out. He cried for what seemed like hours at a time so I did what any first time mom would do: Google it. It wasn’t this exact quote but I remember reading something like this-

What is Colic?

“It is suggested that wind or indigestion may be involved in colic, but the causes are largely unknown.” -medicalnewstoday.com

I ran and opened the pack of Dr. Brown’s bottles gifted to me from my baby shower. Dr. Brown’s seems to be the standard in the baby bottle world. I haven’t bumped into many moms that use otherwise and for good reason! These bottles worked! My baby boy had miraculously stopped crying after bottles and slept well over 2 hours for the first time since he came home.

But guess what? My babies normally went through 8 formula bottles a day and washing bottles took FOR. FREAKING. EVER.

In my Dr. Brown’s package I found a tiny blue pipe cleaner, which obviously was to be used to wash the teeny tiny vent holes and tube for the bottle. At first it was alright, but try washing bottles 3-4 times a day. Every. Day. Sometimes I would skip washing bottles because my sleep and sanity were more important to me at the time then all hell would break loose when the baby woke up and I didn’t have any bottles to use. Try rushing to wash a bottle with a pipe cleaner, still half asleep at 3 AM. It sucked.

Fast forward to my third baby 6 years later and I’ve gained a lot more experience and can run on a lot less sleep (Yes mama! Things do get better and your mind and body will adjust to its new schedule. Plus dad gets a lot better at helping out too). I received a MAM Anti-Colic bottle with samples of formula from our pediatrician about a month ago and for real, I AM IN LOVE.

Why I switched from Dr. Brown’s to MAM Anti-Colic baby bottles

Where did this bottle come from? How come I hadn’t seen MAM bottles before? Where can I buy more?

Washing MAM bottles are a breeze when compared to Dr. Brown’s with no small parts that need a pipe cleaner. One thing I did notice was that the MAM bottles were wider and took up more space in my sterilizer. But check this: You take the MAM bottle apart, put some water in and put it straight into the microwave. This thing self sanitizes.*boom* I know someone out there is  laughing at me as they read this but for real, as a travelling mom this is a big win. I can now easily wash and sterilize my bottles during our RV Camping trips, at pretty much any hotel or just being over at a friends house with the baby.

The next reason I love the MAM Anti-Colic bottle is because of the shape of the nipple. It’s wide but has a unique curved shape that fits really well into baby’s mouth. No more stinky milk neck.

Last but definitely not least, the MAM bottle works really well for baby’s gas. I have yet to have any issues with colic during the use of these bottles (winning!).

One con that I’ve found is that for me, the numbers on the side of the bottles are a little bit harder to read on the MAM bottles. I have no idea why, the ounces are clearly marked but I just can’t see the water level clearly when making formula. This could just be just me tho…

I’ll wrap this up with a quick tip: This really goes for any bottle out there but buy the bigger sized 8oz bottles. You won’t use the 4oz newborn bottle for too long. But remember, the bigger bottles only come with the number 2 nipple which is for ages 2 months+. I have yet to see a them being sold in an actual retail store (I checked Walmart, Target, and Buy Buy Baby) but I found and purchased the number 1 nipples on Amazon with no issues. Also, I just wanted to add that I am no way endorsed or affiliated with MAM or their products. I’ve purchased all of my items at full price because I truly love it and would recommend this product to my closest friends and family.

So what do you think? Have you ever tried using MAM Anti-Colic bottles? Was your experience as positive as mine or do you swear by another bottle? Let me know!

Very rarely do I encounter a site that?s both educative and enjoyable, and allow me to tell you, you’ve hit the nail on the head. Your thought is outstanding; the matter is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I’m quite pleased that I stumbled across this in my hunt for something about this.

I love Mam! We won’t use anything but their products, my newborn took to the bottle with no problem and I still breastfeed!

Hi, I was gifted a MAM bottle by my sister in law who was living in Germany. I believe the brand is a European brand as it is not so easy to find in the states. But the bottle works perfect for me. Love the design of it being anti colic and easy to wash. Love your review.
