About Me

Hold on.

Did you see that photo of me up there? That photo was taken in 2009 for my wedding album.

Try adding 20 lbs and 3 kids.

Hi, I’m Janet Kim and the above photos are as real as I can get with you. I’m a laid back introvert, quiet and reserved, sensitive with a hint of savage. Making a blog and putting myself out there is a HUGE step for me and I’m pretty nervous.

I am Currently living in sunny California with my husband, 2 dogs (Mini and Happy) and 3 kids Maxton (6), Melanie (1.5), Maverick (1 mo).

I’ve gone through a few careers over the years but the 2 most interesting are:

  1. Back when I lived in my hometown (East Coast reppin’ Dirty Jersey!) I used to be a Traditional Korean Dance teacher and performer.
  2. My first job when I moved to L.A was as a fashion designer working for a junior and contemporary clothing manufacturer. Peak of my career: Beyoncé. YAS. THE Beyoncé wore my dress out, IN PUBLIC.

I met my husband in 2008 and got married a year later. Just a year after that I went through the biggest event of my life: my first child, then my second, then my third which about a month ago. Honestly, it just feels like I’ve been pregnant for the past 6 years straight.

I’ve been a mom since 2011 and I’ve got to say, this is the most challenging, exhausting and thankless gig yet. But it’s also the most unexpectedly joyful and fulfilling. Being a mom is an unmatched and insurmountable relationship with your child and it’s a continuous learning experience: Learning how to raise another human and learning a deeper understanding of yourself.

When it comes to motherhood, my journey (so far) has been filled with tons of trial and error and I want to share my experiences: Let my fails and epiphanies help you! I hope to share a product review, life event or experience that could change your opinion or spark a conversation. At the very least I want to connect with you and make some friends. Because real life: it’s really hard to find mom friends.

By no means do I consider myself a pro. I’m still learning and hopefully I’ll get to connect with some of you to do just that.

So, if you’re down for the ride grab your wine and cheers, Because Mom Life.
